What is Auckland Pride Festival?

Auckland Pride is Aotearoa’s largest celebration of Takatāpui and Rainbow creativity, identity, and community, and it’s powered by you.

Auckland Pride Festival in February 2027 is an open-access festival, meaning that anyone can take part as long as they support the kaupapa, register with Auckland Pride, and can find a venue to host their event. Whether you’re an emerging artist with a new idea, a seasoned producer with a big show, or a community group wanting to connect, there is a place for you in Auckland Pride Festival.

The Auckland Pride Festival runs for the entire month of February 2027. Your event can take place any time during February 2027. Artists, producers, and organisers across Tāmaki Makaurau and beyond will bring bold, beautiful, and groundbreaking events to life: theatre, music, visual art, film, dance, parties, workshops, kōrero, activations, and more.

Auckland Pride Festival is a fabulous time to connect with other queer artists, industry professionals, arts organisations, and to be part of the Auckland Pride whānau.

Finding a suitable Venue

If you would like us to help you find a venue for your events please email [email protected] and we can make the right introductions.

Register Your Event

We use the Eventotron platform to run our festival programme. It’s a robust festival system, but has a steep learning curve if you are new to it, so please don’t wait until the night before the deadline to start filling in your details. Allow yourself a couple of days to go back and forth with the form, getting everything arranged with the venue, and gathering requirements.

Then register here → https://eventotron.com/seasons/auckland-pride-festival-2027/profile

Registration Fees

Fees are dependent on several factors.

  • If your event is free or Koha, then registration for Auckland Pride Festival is $50+GST

  • If your event has a ticket price of $29.99 or less, then registration fee is $140+GST

  • If your event has a ticket price of $30 or more, then registration fee is $270+GST

  • If your event is taking place at a Proud Centre, the Registration Fee will be waived.

Worth noting…

If your free event takes place at a Proud Centre then your venue hire fee is also waived, and that can be a massive saving.

If you're registering multiple events or if the  registration fees are a barrier to taking part, please get in touch with us and we will do what we can in terms of  a discount or waive fees.

If you have social media pages and website, please include those in your Eventotron application. Remember to tag us in your posts so that we can see and reshare them.

Insurance and Liability Cover

Some venues may require you to carry Public Liability insurance before they will allow you to perform in their venue. It’s worth doing your own research on this to find the best price, but searching for “Entertainment insurance specialists” will help you find the suitable cover.

Grants & Funding

Please carefully read our Pride Empowerment Information Pack then you can apply for up to $3,000 towards your event here.

We have also put together a resource page of Grands and Funding that you might be eligible to apply for your event. Click here to access the resource page.

Who pays the bills?

Who gets to pay the bills? It depends...but it's never Auckland Pride.

If you are registered as an organisation or group or society or business then you would apply for the funding, receive funding into your account, and then manage that funding yourself. So you would get the bills and you would pay the bills from that funding.

We are here to help coach you through finding a venue, finding funding, getting your event listed as part of Pride programme, but not to run your budget, pay the bills, payroll or anything like that.

If you are not set up as an organisation or group or business, and you are applying as an individual, then you would need an umbrella organisation who would receive and manage the funding on your behalf. They would be the ones getting the bills and paying the bills on your behalf. We would still be available to help coach you through finding the venue, finding funding, and getting your event listed in the Pride Festival.

Please let me know if you think you may need an umbrella organisation by emailing [email protected] and we can chat through some options for that.

Either way, the bills never come to Auckland Pride.

We can coach and help you find funds, venue, promotion etc, but the bills are always managed by you or by your umbrella organisation if you have one.

Box Office / Ticketing

You can run your box office through the venue, through humanitix or through Eventotron (there are some ticketing fees on Eventotron)
